Centro Mujeres believes that a combined effort of sexual education, access, and youth empowerment is the most effective way to stem the spread of STIs and lower Baja California Sur's high rate of teen pregnancies.

Did You Know?
• More than half (54%) of teens aged 15 – 23 in Mexico report that they do not use protection during sexual intercourse,  leaving themselves at greatly increased risk of STIs and unplanned pregnancy.
• When Centro Mujeres began working in Baja California Sur, the state had one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the country, with 29% of total pregnancies for Mexico (2002).
