Advocates COPADO

Advocates COPADO (Jóvenes en Acción) is a leadership training and advocacy program that promotes the exercise of sexual and reproductive rights by young people. Our trained cohort of youth leaders stage community-wide campaigns to raise awareness of these rights, while promoting civic participation.

The Advocates COPADO program has been recognized by both the county of La Paz and the state of Baja California Sur for its contribution to  improving the quality of life of young people in the state.   Currently the program is forming young people between the ages of 15 and 18 in the counties of Los Cabos and Comundu.

Active over the last eight years, Advocates have hosted teach-ins at local schools, staged rock concerts, run art contests, produced videos, designed materials and appeared on local news channels as part of their campaigns.  Through these  promotional campaigns, ongoing outreach work, the leadership component and on site prevention services, young advocates reach and mobilize an average of 6 thousand young men and women per year

Advocates also work to sensitize local and state authorities on the needs of young people and to impact public policies regarding the sexual and reproductive rights of youth.
